Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge

 

This bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the world with a total length of 3911m and was registered in Guinness 20 years ago. Structure type is 3 harness 2 hinge stiff truss suspension bridge.

Irabu Bridge

 

 

This is one of the most beautiful Japanese bridges with a width of 8.5m and a total length of 3540m and is the longest bridge in ones used without toll fee.

Tatara ohashi



Tatara Ohashi is one of the West Seto Expressway
"Shimanami Kaido"
connecting the islands of the Seto Inland Sea.
This bridge has a total length of 1,480 m 
and is the longest stretched bridge in Japan as of 2014,
the fifth in the world

Megane bridge

 

 

 

This is a kind of bridge. Megane bridge has two arches made from stone. Because bridge itself and bridge on water surface look like glasses, it is called Megane bridge (Megane means glasses in Japanese).

Yamabiko-ohashi bridge

This bridge is rigid frame bridge made by prestressed concrete. A Rigid-Frame Bridge is a bridge in which the superstructure and substructure are rigidly connected to act as a continuous unit. Prestressed concrete is useful in bridge construction because it has higher tensile strength than traditional reinforced concrete, allowing for longer bridge spans.

Himeji Castle

 

 

Himeji-castle is a hilltop Japanese castle constructed in 1346 located in the city of Himeji. The castle is regarded as the finest surviving example of prototypical Japanese castle architecture. It comprises a network of 83 buildings with advanced defensive systems.

Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower

 

 

 

This is Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower located at Shinjuku in Tokyo. This building is a school for students who want to be make-up artists, fashion designers and IT engineers. This stylish building is built in 2008 with lots of advanced technologies. One of the technologies applied for this building is diagonal frames. The diagonal frames are white metal frames with lattice pattern covering the whole building. The structure makes the building durable against force by wind and earthquakes.

Kurobe Dam

 

 

Kurobe Dam is the arc type concrete dam. It was built by Kansai Electric Power Co., Ltd. for the main purpose to secure water used for power generation. The height of the dam (height of the bank) is 186m and is the tallest in Japan.
